My concerns when I visited Abkhazia

I feel attracted to the more controversial places. When I told my friends I was going to the Caucasus (surprisingly most of them didn’t even know where it was), they told me I’m crazy. Let alone when I later announced I’d also visit Abkhazia. Abkhazia is most known for its war, controversial status and poverty. Reason enough for me to visit. Why I keep returning to Gdansk

“Do you have a girlfriend there?” and “What is her name?”. Those questions would be on top of the list if I set up a FAQ about my trips to Gdansk. No surprise, because I visited Gdansk 5 times in only 2.5 years. Actually, I should have been there for the 6th time at the time of writing, if it wasn’t the flu that kept me on my own couch. Carnival in Venice

Many cities in Europe are worth visiting. Countless cities have a beautiful old town, a lively cafe culture or some famous landmarks. Although they are worth visiting any time of the year, an event can just add a little extra. Valencia has Las Fallas, Amsterdam has King’s Day and Munich the Oktoberfest. Revolution in Kiev

When I first visited Kiev in July 2013 I had the time of my life. I made many new friends and when they took me for a picnic in one of Kiev’s huge parks, it was one of the most fun days of the year. Although some of them had very little knowledge of English, I had fun with all of them. They treated me like the prince had arrived and made me feel like I had been their friend for ages.
